Mannequin hand, steel, synchronous motor
28 x 18 x 21 cm

A mannequin’s hand has its fingers dismembered and then grafted back into the hand. Some of the fingers take on different movements – linear or rotational movement– so that the hand moves. Three low-revving continuous motion motors that can move to either side are used and one additional prosthesis that transforms the rotation into linear motion.

Hanging from above, the hand moves from side to side with its stumbling motion, like some kind of clumsy animal. As many of my works, the low-tech solutions create intentionally precarious systems. The title refers to the charismatic character of the Addams Family.
